I Revealed Your Name

With these words from today’s Gospel: “I revealed your name”, the risen Lord Jesus, shows us the purpose of his mission; to reveal the name of the Father to us.  You may know that in Jesus’ time the name itself means the whole person.  In other words, the name of a person is the person itself.  So, what Jesus is saying is that He has revealed to the world, God as a “Father”, our Father, a loving Father.

You might think: OK, we know that God is a Father, our Father; So, what is new in those words?

I just want to invite your to consider that Jesus was put on a cross just for that reason, to call God his Father.  Today 2008, it is normal for all of us to call God: “Father”.  Pray everyday in your life calling him Father, but at the same time, commit yourself to know him better by reading the Bible.
